When you want to get cash quickly for any working or non-working vehicle your own, our process makes it simple, easy, and quick. Before we schedule the pick-up of your vehicle or you drop it off at our location, if it still runs, there are some things you need to do.
Tip #1: Clean out your car.
Take the time to empty the trunk, glove box, and other storage areas in the vehicle. Remember to check underneath and down seat backs. Don’t forget to check the sun visors and sunglass storage too! Who knows? You might find some cash in the process that you didn’t know you had!
Tip #2: Verify your title is clear and free of any liens.
Your car title will need to clear and free of any liens. You will need to sign the title over to us and provide it to us when we pick up your car or you drop it off at our location. If you have misplaced the title, file for a lost title as soon as possible.
Tip #3: Remove the license plate from the vehicle.
On the pick-up day, remove the license plate from the vehicle. We can remove the plates for you if you are dropping the vehicle off at our location. If you are not transferring the plates to another vehicle and the sticker on the plate is still valid, remember to stop by the MTO/Service Center for a refund on your plate sticker.
Tip #4: Remember to call your car insurance provider.
You will need to cancel the car insurance on your vehicle. We will not do that for you. Just remember to keep insurance on the vehicle until it is picked up or you have dropped it off at our location. Your insurance company will issue a refund if you were paid ahead on your insurance premium.
Tip #5: Let us know if you are removing after-market accessories from the vehicle.
If you are removing the radio, special wheels or other such after-market accessories, let us know. This could affect the purchase price of the vehicle in certain cases. We understand you may want to keep your custom wheels and that’s okay. Just make sure there are tires and wheels on the vehicle so we can pick it up.
Tip #6: Make sure you are present when the vehicle is picked up.
We can only pay the legal, registered owner of the vehicle when we pick it up. If you are not able to be at home for any reason, we can make an exception. However, you will need to fill out an authorization form and sign it that states who is legally authorized to sell the vehicle on your behalf. You will also need to verify you have signed the title.
